Randy Burks, M.D., F.A.C.S. is an Oculoplastic & LASIK Surgeon in Fort Lauderdale at Ophthalmology Consultants-The Center for LASIK with offices in Margate where he performs LASIK Surgery in Ft. Lauderdale in addition to specialized LASIK Eye Surgery procedures including PRK as well as Monovision LASIK. He received his Medical Degree from Tulane University School of Medicine and completed a Residency in Ophthalmology at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center. In addition, prior to joining Ophthalmology Consultants Dr. Burks completed a Fellowship in Eye Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Burks has served as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology- Director of Residency Training-Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center, Assistant Clinical Professor in Ophthalmology at University of Texas Health Science Center-San Antonio, Texas and Assistant Clinical Professor in Ophthalmology-Uniformed Services University of Health Science, Washington, D.C.
Dr. Burks is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member the International Society of Refractive Surgery, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and has served as the Past President of the Broward County Ophthalmology Society and Board of Trustees of Northwest Medical Center and currently serves as Chief of Staff of Outpatient Surgery Center of Coral Springs. Dr. Burks has been awarded numerous professional honors including the Surgeon General's Award for an outstanding paper, presented at the Society of Air Force Clinical Surgeons Annual Meeting and being selected "Flight Surgeon of The Year" in the United States Air Force Reserve.
Dr. Burks has been featured on several local television broadcasts discussing implantable lenses for patients with extremely high degrees of near and farsightedness who are not good candidates for LASIK. He is also an author of the book "What Every Patient Needs To Know About LASIK."
Dr. Burks also participates in charitable surgical eye missions, leading teams of surgeons into developing countries in Central and South America to help fight blindness. He is married to Karen Mann and has three daughters, Amber, Jessica, and Erica.
